How to block LinkedIn on Chrome
Why LinkedIn is hard to put down
- The feed is endless and looks productive.
- Notifications about views and reactions pull you back all day.
- Comparing yourself to other people's announcements rarely helps you work.
Block LinkedIn in four steps
- 1Add ZenTab to Chrome. It's free, and your first 7 days include every Pro feature.
- 2Open the ZenTab dashboard and go to Site Blocker.
- 3LinkedIn is already in the Social media pack: make sure linkedin.com is switched on. If it isn't listed, type linkedin.com and click Add site.
- 4Open linkedin.com. Instead of the site you'll see ZenTab's calm block page, with your streak and a button to start a focus session.
A site covers its subdomains too, so linkedin.com also blocks every *.linkedin.com address. The free plan blocks 10 sites at a time; if you're at the limit, switch off one you need less, or go Pro for unlimited sites.
Smarter ways to limit LinkedIn
Messages, job applications and your profile are often essential. Blocking everything isn't the only option:
Hide the feed, keep messages and jobs
ProFeed Eraser hides LinkedIn's feed. Messages, jobs, notifications and profiles still work.
Allow it only after lunch
ProSchedule LinkedIn to be blocked in the morning, when you do your hardest work.
Add it to your blocklist
FreeLinkedIn is in the Social media pack. Switch it off if you need it for work, or keep it on and use the 5-minute "I really need this site" pass.
Hide the LinkedIn feed instead
Feed Eraser keeps LinkedIn working but removes the parts built to keep you scrolling.
When you're tempted to unblock it
Most blockers fail in the same moment: you're tired, the urge hits, and switching the block off takes two clicks. ZenTab adds friction exactly there.
- I really need this site: the block page can open LinkedIn for a few minutes after a short wait, so a genuine need doesn't turn into an hour.
- Strict Mode (Pro): no quick unlocks, you can add sites but not remove or pause them, and turning it off takes a 15-minute cool-down.
- Commitment lock (Pro): keep Strict Mode on until a date you choose, with no way out early.
Frequently asked questions
Can I block the LinkedIn feed but still apply for jobs?
Yes. Feed Eraser hides only the feed. Jobs, messages and profiles load as usual.
LinkedIn is part of my job. Should I block it?
Probably not the whole site. Hiding the feed and checking messages at set times usually gives you the benefit without losing anything you need.
