How to hide Instagram Reels on Chrome

Reels are Instagram's endless short-video feed, and on the web they're one click from your messages. Hiding them keeps Instagram useful for talking to people, not for losing an evening.
Pro Included in ZenTab Pro, with a 7-day free trial

What disappears

  • The Reels tab in Instagram's sidebar
  • Reels links, which go to your inbox instead of the Reels player

What still works

  • Direct messages
  • Profiles and posts you visit on purpose
  • Posting and stories

Hide Instagram Reels in four steps

  1. 1Add ZenTab to Chrome. It's free, and your first 7 days include Pro, so you can try this straight away.
  2. 2Open the ZenTab dashboard and go to Feed Eraser.
  3. 3In the Instagram card, switch on Hide Reels.
  4. 4That's it. It applies instantly, even to Instagram tabs that are already open.

Switch it off again any time in the same place. Feed Eraser runs only in your browser: nothing is sent to Instagram or to ZenTab.

Rather block Instagram completely?

If you don't need Instagram at all during the day, blocking the whole site is simpler. See how to block Instagram on Chrome, on a schedule or with a daily time limit.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if a friend sends me a Reel?

Opening a Reels link takes you to your inbox instead. If you really want to see it, switch the filter off for a moment in Feed Eraser.

Can I also hide the home feed?

Yes. Turn on Hide Explore and feed too, and Instagram on the web becomes messages and profiles only.
