How to block adult sites on your home Wi-Fi router

Set the filter once on your router and every device that joins your home Wi-Fi is covered: phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, consoles and guests' devices, without installing anything on them.

Set up Home Wi-Fi

  1. 1Open your router's admin page (the address is usually printed on the router, like 192.168.1.1) and sign in.
  2. 2Find the DNS settings, usually under Internet, WAN or DHCP.
  3. 3Replace the DNS servers with the two addresses below and save.
  4. 4Every device on your Wi-Fi is now filtered: phones, tablets, TVs, consoles and guests.
Primary DNS
185.228.168.10
Secondary DNS
185.228.169.11

This only covers your home Wi-Fi. Set up each phone too, so mobile data is covered.

Make it hard to undo

Change the router's admin password and give it to someone you trust.

Check that it worked

Open zentab.live/protect on this device and tap Test this device. It checks that known adult sites are unreachable without opening or showing anything. Sign in with your Gmail first and the result appears on your dashboard, next to your other devices.

Frequently asked questions

Can't someone just switch to mobile data?

Yes, which is why the router is a second layer, not the only one. Set up each phone's own filter so it's protected everywhere.

My internet provider's router won't let me change DNS. What now?

Some ISP routers lock the setting. Set DNS on each device instead, or add your own router behind the ISP's box.

Protect Chrome on your computer too

ZenTab blocks adult sites in Chrome from the moment you install it. Pro adds urge challenges, SafeSearch everywhere and a 30-minute lock, so a weak moment passes before you can switch it off.
