Looking for a Freedom alternative?
Why people look for a Freedom alternative
- The subscription adds up over the years.
- Free sessions stop after 2 hours.
- You'd rather not create an account just to block a few sites.
What ZenTab does differently
- $10 once versus $39.99 a year or $99.50 Forever.
- No account, and blocking that's on all the time, not only during a session.
- Feed Eraser keeps the useful part of a site.
- A streak graph, New Tab, tasks and adult content protection.
When to stay with Freedom
Stay with Freedom if your phone is the main problem and you want phone and computer blocked together. It does some things ZenTab doesn't:
- One session blocks the same sites and apps on your phone and computer at once.
- Can block the entire internet.
- Apps for iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook.

Frequently asked questions
Is ZenTab free?
Yes. The free plan blocks 10 sites, hides YouTube Shorts and includes the focus timer, Zen New Tab and streak, with no time limit. Pro is $10 once, with a 7-day free trial and a 14-day refund.
Can I use ZenTab and Freedom together?
You can, but most people pick one, so there's a single set of rules to manage. If you keep both, move your website blocking to ZenTab and keep Freedom for what ZenTab doesn't do.
How long does switching from Freedom take?
About a minute. Add ZenTab to Chrome, pick the distraction packs you want in the 60-second setup, and add any other sites from your old list in Site Blocker.
