How to hide Twitch recommendations on Chrome

Twitch's sidebar is a live list of streams happening right now, and the homepage carousel autoplays one. Hiding them means you only watch the streams you go looking for.

What disappears

  • The recommended channels sidebar on the homepage and Browse pages
  • The homepage carousel and its autoplaying stream
  • Recommendation shelves on the homepage

What still works

  • Channels you open directly
  • Search and following
  • Chat

Hide Twitch recommendations in four steps

  1. 1Add ZenTab to Chrome. It's free, and your first 7 days include Pro, so you can try this straight away.
  2. 2Open the ZenTab dashboard and go to Feed Eraser.
  3. 3In the Twitch card, switch on Hide recommendations.
  4. 4That's it. It applies instantly, even to Twitch tabs that are already open.

Switch it off again any time in the same place. Feed Eraser runs only in your browser: nothing is sent to Twitch or to ZenTab.

Rather block Twitch completely?

If you don't need Twitch at all during the day, blocking the whole site is simpler. See how to block Twitch on Chrome, on a schedule or with a daily time limit.

Frequently asked questions

Will I still see when channels I follow go live?

Twitch notifications and your Following page still work. Only the algorithmic sidebar and homepage are hidden.

Does this hide the followed channels list in the sidebar too?

On the homepage and Browse pages, yes: the whole left sidebar is hidden there. Use the Following page to see who's live.
